Step by Step Guide to a Christmas Tablescape

Step by Step Guide to a Christmas Tablescape

Let’s create a colorful, eclectic Christmas tablescape, shall we? I’ve created a step by step guide to a Christmas tablescape so it will be easy for you to replicate. The key to building a beautiful tablescape is layering. I have had most of this for a few years, so I just gathered what I already had in my house. Hopefully you can get some inspiration and create your own.

Let’s start with a fresh clean table.

I knew I wanted to start with my red and white tablecloth.

Next, I added some Silver and white placemats. I chose these because of the contrast of the red, the fringe edges and they have some silver shiny thread that makes it more festive.

I found these round faux pine chargers at World Market last year.

My favorite Homegoods find last year were these vintage inspired Santa plates!

I added green water glasses (found these a few years ago too). Don’t be afraid to go off the color scheme. As you can probably tell, I don’t like things to be matchy-matchy. Eclectic decor is all about old and new, textures, colors and something a little different.

My big find this year are these hand painted green and red berry glasses from K. Hall Designs.

Up next: napkins and festive red jingle bell napkin rings! I’ve curated quite the collection of cloth napkins over the years, and I love mixing and matching them to create unique table settings. As a photographer, I’m all about making things visually appealing. Layering different patterns is a simple yet effective way to add depth and charm to any setup.

I have quite the collection of Christmas trees too. I gathered all that I could find around the house. I didn’t use any that were too tall, so they did not block the view across the table. Think odd numbers and varying heights.

Whenever I set a table, candles are an absolute must to create the perfect mood and vibe. Lighting is EVERYTHING to me! I love dimming the dining room lights, letting the glow of the Christmas tree shine, and adding the warm flicker of candles. It’s all about creating a magical, cozy atmosphere that feels like a total vibe. I found these votive holders that had all my colors.

It’s getting close, and I’m adding a personalized touch to the table. Instead of traditional name place tags, I picked out an ornament that represents each person at the table. It adds a playful twist—a fun little game for everyone to figure out where they’re sitting!

And there you have it. I vibrant, colorful, warm, welcoming, eclectic table for hosting the Holidays. I would love to see what you create! Please tag @heidicreativeco so I can see!
