I spent Friday night at home, going through everything I own! I have not had a Friday this exciting in a long time. 🙂 What a great feeling to start the year off with an organized closet. I purged (3 bags worth), matched socks, folded sweaters and jeans, and dusted shelves.
THE PLAN:
Here is a list of everything I have and how I organized it all. Everything is organized by likeness. Socks together. Jeans together. Etc. When I moved into this house I wanted a place for everything. That is the key to organization. And organizing like things together. When I get real crazy I will color-code too but it doesn’t last too long like that in my life. It looks so good for photos though! I tried to look at everything with new eyes. Is is dated, too worn, ugly or I have not put it on my body in 2 seasons.
I pretty much buy clothes from 4 main places:
- ANTHROPOLOGIE. My favorite for years and my go-to, yes it is pricey but the clothes last FOREVER and the quality is amazing. Most things I buy from them never go out of style. Classic yet trendy, eclectic and vibrant, colorful and unique-all the things I love. I spend extra but I only shop there once a season to get a few new items to add to my wardrobe. You can shop my closet HERE
- VINTAGE. The hunt is my favorite. I am good with my gut instinct and a very fast decision maker which I think helps in the vintage game. I love old t-shirts, fun dresses (like my gold lamé number) and anything vintage that speaks to me. Shoes and jewelry are fun finds too.
- LOCAL BOUTIQUES:
- Fast shopping like TARGET/TJ MAXX (I try not to go too crazy at these stores, although its easy to do. I get a lot of layering pieces and basics here)
IN DRAWERS:
Top Drawer: JEWELRY
Fun fact about me- I don’t spend money on jewelry and purses. I could care less about name brands. I look more at function, color and texture. I use to use a lot of costume jewelry in photoshoots. I hope that trend comes back fast!)
2nd drawer: UNDERWARE/BRAS
3rd drawer: JAMMIES
4th drawer: T-SHIRTS

HERE IS WHAT I LEARNED:
I love my clothes and need to be able to enjoy them! Organizing once a year helps me remember what I have and encourages me to donate some old and categorize to see what I need (and more importantly what I don’t need) Touching, folding, organizing each item of clothing I have makes me see what I have and love them all over again.
HERE IS A LIST OF WHAT YOU NEED TO GET ORGANIZED:
CLEAR BINS
BASKETS
TRASHBAGS
LABEL MAKER
FELT HANGERS!
These are an absolute game changer in my opinion. Felt hangers are more aesthetically pleasing and plastic hangers look cheap and cluttered
